Hi Everyone
It’s with pleasure that I can finally announce the full details of the first ever UK Spyder Rider Community (Racing Circuit) gathering on SATURDAY THE 13TH AUGUST 2011 in partnership with ADRENALIN ATV and hosted by yours truly The Red Ranger, AKA Blue!
The event is being held at Llandow Race circuit just across the border in Wales.
It’s approximately 60 miles out of Bristol according to the AA and near the town of Cowbridge.
Google – Llandow circuit or http://www.llandow.com (There’s no Severn bridge fee to pay for bikes and Spyders if you were wondering)
The circuit is an old World War Two airfield that has been converted into a proper Tarmac race circuit where they hold various motor sport events.
(There are some good YOU TUBE videos out there) Over the years they have hosted everything from Sports car and motorcycle racing to grass tracking and stock cars.
The circuit itself is 1450m long and 9m wide.
To date it’s never seen a Spyder!!
The reason that this was picked as the venue for the event was because the owners who are extremely nice and helpful people kindly allowed the chance for Spyders to venture trackside for the very first time.
No other Circuit would allow the Spyders trackside or offer the same opportunities or value for money.
As I have hired the whole Circuit for the day we have full and exclusive access to all of its facilities which include a Café, Briefing rooms, Parking and of course the Circuit itself.
Remember this is not a public track day event, this is for us Spyder riders to get together in a safe environment with all the facilities we need to have a very nice Summer gathering.
I have organised with the Circuit owners the necessary Marshalls, Trackside staff and Paramedic cover along with all of the required Insurance details required to allow us to stage the event.
Obviously I will be imposing and enforcing a set of riding regulations that I will list out for you all shortly.
Please note-All trackside riding is at your own risk.
Food and general refreshments are all available from the Circuits own Café,
The Chief Marshall will give a briefing in the morning to all riders and will organise and execute sighting laps of the circuit to familiarise everyone with the track.
REMEMBER for those who wish to ride socially and not with their hair on fire- there will be a dedicated group and session for you to do this with like-minded people.
Please do not be put off riding or attending for fear of others who do wish to roll back and see what the Spyder can do trackside. The day is aimed at the Spyder community and everyone should be able to enjoy this very rare opportunity to get together.
The ride spec is as follows-
All riders/pillions must be rider ticket holders to gain access to the track.
All riders/pillions will have to attend the morning briefing from the Chief Marshall.
All riders/Pillions will have to sign a consent form to ride on the circuit.
All riders will have to bring their personal insurance details and drivers licence, All riders have to be aloft a taxed and MOT’d Spyder compliant with all UK road laws, All riders/Pillions must wear- Suitable foot wear specifically designed for road use on a motorcycle/Spyder Suitable road going motorcycle trousers that are either Leather or Textile in design, Suitable road going motorcycle Jacket that is either Leather or Textile in design, Suitable road going motorcycle gloves that are either Leather or Textile in design, Suitable UK legal road going motorcycle helmet, If I have missed anything it will be added in due course.
The cost of a rider ticket for the day is £80.00 The cost of a pillion rider for the day is £15.00 The cost of visiting pedestrian spectators is to be confirmed
Please take into consideration that to ride at this track on/in a standard vehicle on a public trackday would cost you the same money!
Spyders are not normally allowed trackside so this is as much a test of the Spyder Community as it is the Circuit owners experimenting with new things!
The other little consideration you may wish to keep in the back of your mind is that at this very moment I’ve paid for this up front myself so it’d be great to have your support. My wallet hurts… a lot!!
Without your support this event lacks the reason for existing.
Adrenalin ATV have also kindly come on board so they will be shouldering half of the initial costs in due course.
As an Industry leader in Spyders and all things extreme Adrenalin ATV will be a very welcome addition to the event and will hopefully bring new offers and deals along with them.
There will be a few fun interludes during the day for those who wish to participate-
Competitions to enter-
Best in show- The best looking Spyder of the day Most customised Spyder Highest mileage Best homemade modification
Hopefully we’ll sort out some little prizes for the winners!
Tickets are limited and will be available on a first come first served basis.
Tickets will be on sale very soon through Adrenalin ATV as they will have the means to process credit card sales etc.
Please remember credit cards service charges may be applied depending on the type of card you use. Details will follow soon.
You can pre book your ticket by sending a confirmation e-mail to Blue at- bluestone6@hotmail.com Please give a suitable contact number and state how many tickets you’d like to purchase so we can call you back to take payment for your ticket.
Please head the E-mail with Spyder Riders ticket reservation.
All details will of course will be kept confidential and used only for correspondence for this event
Final note-
If the Spyder community doesn’t embrace this opportunity then I will have no choice but to open the sessions up for solo riders to boost the numbers as I of course need to cover the cost of the venue and event. Please get on board, as it’d be great to meet you all and frankly stick one in the eye of the industry people who decided not to help in the end.
I’ve put my money where my mouth is so let’s see what happens!
Thanks everyone for being so patient and I look forward to seeing you all.
Cheers
Blue
PS
If riders want to stay over night and stage a convoy ride out to the venue on the morning of the 13th I would be happy to offer a secure overnight Parc Ferme for riders with untrailered Spyders staying in local hotels and B&B’s.
My suggestion is a convoy ride from junction 17 of the M4 to Llandow so approximately 78 miles along the M4.
Hi All,
Sure I’m not the only one here that is super excited to be meeting up in August. Already picking my route down and maybe come back up through Wales. Anyone from the St Neots, Cambridgeshire area want to cruise down together let me know?
Congrats again Blue, hope we’ll all make this work by spreading the word to fellow Spyderryders, ride out places, clubs and bike shops. Spreading the net wide will hopefully attract more to the forum as well and help future events.
Bring it on……..
Rosie
Hi Sean
Thanks for the support,
Postings have been a little sketchy recently so I hope this appears ok.
Yes we’re all very excited at our end too.
It’s going to be a great day.
It’s been a bit quite on the forum in general recently!?
cheers
Blue
Obviously that was meant to be Quiet not Quite!! D’oh typo!!
Tickets ordered, hope you receive my email.
Hi Gary
Yes all sorted,
I’ll e-mailed a little thankyou confirmation from the Blackberry literally a minute after I received your order which you hopefully got?
Once again many thanks for your support.
You’ll be pleased to hear tickets are selling and interest is growing daily.
I think you’ll be one of the furthest travelling attendees unless some of the French hop on the ferry! Fair play to you and look forward to meeting you in August.
I’m told the event details will be hitting Facebook and Twitter in the next few days and the payment method will be live on the Adrenalin ATV web site soon.
You can also reserve tickets by phone- 01212 707057
http://www.adrenalinatv.co.uk
or as Gary did by emailing bluestone6@hotmail.com
You can pre book your ticket by sending a confirmation e-mail to Blue at- bluestone6@hotmail.com Please give a suitable contact number and state how many tickets you’d like to purchase so we can call you back to take payment for your ticket.
Please head the E-mail with Spyder Riders ticket reservation.

It’s great to have your support.
Cheers
Blue
we will be away in turkey on holiday ,i hope you all have a good time
thanks ian.
Has any one attempted to contact Adrenelin. Ref; the track day in August. I`ve emailed, no reply. I`ve phoned, the gent who answered had no idea what was going on. I`ve attempted to log onto their website, where it states click here, no response.
It may appear early to some people, but we all have to make travel arrangements. In some cases accomodation.
Regards to all, Gary.
Hi Gary
I’m not sure where the communication break has been there however Adrenalin are working on resolving the web link. It’s had to be built especially for ticket sales so probably is suffering some teething problems.
If you contact me via bluestone6@hotmail.com as detailed in the various blogs online and here on SR-UK I can reserve you a ticket and answer any questions you have.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Blue
Hi Gary,
Sorry for the communication problems. I think you may have spoken to one of our part time staff. Thanks for your booking and we hope to see you there. We will let you know when payment can be made.
Your places are reserved for definite Gary and if you have any other problems, call us on 01212 707 057
Many Thanks
Joe

Just added new shocks from http://www.elkasuspension.com . All I can say is WOW. Came home with a huge grin on my face. Improved handling in all areas especially front end in corners and without any loss of general riding comfort.
Want more details let me know? If you contact them mention my name (Sean Rose)
hi rosie
just read about your new shocks.can you give me the details and cost.
thanks jim
Hi Jim,
I’ve worked with them on deisgn and fit on a shock for my sitski, so think i got a deal. Will check with them and let you know. There are a number of options, from straight shock to having High/Low compression chamber, rebound and even a Hydraulic adjustment version for the RT?
I took the good stuff – High/low compression rear shock and the fronts have high/low and rebound adjustments. With shipping and Taxes (coming from Canada) was around £1600.
Speak soon?
Clagging up the emense amount of chatter we have on this thread with non Spyder event chit chat boys!!…I don’t know.
Great shocks Sean! They look the business I have to say.
Jim did you get those little homemade flyers I sent you?
Tickets are moving and there has been more interest from dealers too and not just Spyder ones so hopefully things will continue to build up nicely for August.
There have been over 140 views on Spyder Talk reading about the event and I’ve even had e-mails from Spyder dealers in South Africa offering discounts on hire and sales!! All very useful if you live in South Africa of course. A least it shows the word is spreading far and wide.
Elka shocks email seanyrose@hotmail.com for more info. Apologies Blue for posting on wrong thread.
As I said earlier dude.. Don’t be soft!
Hi Blue,
Sorry that I cannot make the track day due to work commitments and the the lack of coverage within my company. Hope that you all have a great day out and look forward to a few of the photos that I am sure will be flying around after the event.
Hi David
Sorry to hear you can’t make it,
Thanks for the interest though,
Cheers
Blue
HOT OFF THE PRESS!
GG Technik (www.gg-technik.ch) are coming to the Spyder event all the way from Switzerland to show and demo their range of vehicles.
The GG Quadster
GG Quad
GG Taurus
Details can be found online at http://www.gg-technik.ch... or just google them,
I will post further details as GG-Technik release them to me.
For those who have not seen these trikes and bikes they are not to be missed!
Regards
Blue
A little update for all of those following this thread-
You can find details of B&B’s/hotels on the Llandow Race circuit web site- http://www.llandow.com under the heading LINKS.
There is a petrol station on the A48 about 3/4 miles from the circuit.
Refueling on site is fine as long as usual H&S is adhered to and all fuel cans/containers are legal and designed to carry fuel in the UK. Basically no home made fuel containers please!
GG Technik will be bringing 2 Taurus bikes and there will be opportunity to ride them at GG’s discretion. They say Spyder riders will easily adapt to them!
Trying to get the time to go to wales but its hard to juggle all.
We now have 5 Spyders going to Americana at Newark on Trent July 8th -11th
Not a race circuit but def great fun, great music, great cars and bikes !!
Any update, on the release of the tickets for track day?
Hi Gary
I saw your name on the guest list from Adrenalin the other day.
I know that Andrew was calling everyone taking payment for their tickets so maybe he couldn’t raise you on the phone?
The tickets are on sale via the Adrenalin website or over the phone and are virtual for security purposes so your name is then added to the guest list which will be checked at the gate at the circuit.
As the tickets are processed through Adrenalin official receipts can be processed on request.
Hope this helps and you’re looking forward to the event.
cheers
Blue
PS we do have space for a solo session as well so if you have friends that also ride out feel free to tell them about the event.
Many thanks again for info;
Hi Gary
No problem at all,
What ever you need just shout and I’ll do what I can to help.
I hope you’re looking forward to the event.
It’ll be good to meet you there.
cheers
Blue
Ref; track day. Are we going to meet up at junction 17 on the A4? If so, at what time.
p.s still not heard from Adrenalin.
Regards, Gary
Hi Gary
Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been snowed under at work.
I’ve told Adrenalin several times about your queries and was under the impression they had managed to contact you however it appears they may have had you confused with another Gary thinking it was you.
Feel free to call them directly at their store on 01212707057 or 01675471459 or E-mail on adrenalinatv@hotmail.com if there are further questions that I can’t answer for you.
Speak to either Joe or Andrew as they have been processing the tickets and co-ordinating the event at their end.
As for meeting up I personally will be riding from Junction 17 M4 where i’m happy to meet up with any other riders wanting to convoy to the circuit.
We should be hooking up with PG at Bristol and I’m guesing we might see Eddie too?
Time wise I will have to check with the Circuit and Adrenalin to get a feel for what everyone wants to do.
I know we can get access to the venue quite early so the sooner we get there the sooner we can start enjoying the day. I’m open to suggestions on that one.
A little reminder for anyone who has reserved a ticket and not spoken to Adrenalin about the actual purchase of it yet-
Please get in contact and make payment as it appears there are tickets that have been set aside but not paid for.
At the end of the day without the support of the rider community there is little point in staging any event.
With reference to the track day – If your like me and don’t want to go on the track but are more than
happy to attend to see fellow Spyder Owners having a go – Please try and attend and give your support
Blue and others have worked hard to try and get something off the ground – its not be easy but to his
credit he has hung in there
Like all clubs it takes time to get them up and running and I am sure being able to meet up with other
Spyder owners will enhance our pleasure of Riding and Owning whatever Spyder Model you have
I could’t find any information ref Spectators on the circuit website – So I sent them an e mail
this was the response I received :-
Hi Eddie
You are very welcome to attend and there is no charge. Just pull into the car park through the double gates to the left hand side as you enter the main gates, if you arrive early enough i.e before 10.am you are usually able to park trackside and will have a good view of your friends having a go at ” The Bus stop ”
. Spectators enter the paddock area at their own risk but will be allowed
Hope info helps
Kind regards
Sharon

Blue
Hi all,
Can’t wait for the rideout and track day.
Looking forward to meeting fellow Spyder Ryders.
Thanks Blue for all the hardwork and hope this event gets the support it deserves.
See you all soon
Hi everyone,
All is looking good despite the major headaches we’ve encountered setting this event up.
The venue has been great and full credit to their flexibilty, A big thank you to them.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and having a great day.
Cheers
Blue
hi blue
just back from hol’s carnt wait for the track day
thinking of comeing down on friday night can you let me no were your meeting on the saturday
and what time
many thanks jim.
Hi Jim
We’re meeting at Jct 17 of the M4 at 7am to travel to the venue.
According AA route finder it’s approximately 77 miles from there so we intend to leave early and stop for breakfast on the way somewhere.
Sean,Eddie and Paul are meeting there along with me, Gary has now changed BB’s so will now meet us at the circuit with the other riders.
You’re more than welcome to stay local to Jct 17 (Chippenham) as we’re riding out on Friday night too just for laughs. Sean is doing this as he has a 3hr journey to make so will arrive Friday and then complete the rest of the journey with us local riders.
As I mentioned before I can provide secure parking for anyone staying local if it makes life easier for them.
cheers
Blue
Hi – I was and now am again a Spyder owner, but won’t be ready until Sept. I’ll try and sort something with Adrenalin or Exeter (whom I brought from).
Great idea – I’ve been turned away from track days
Be in contact as soon as I know, but at least I WILL be there!
Cheers, Richard
nb new email address
Richard, Have you bought a Spyder yet? If not give us a call as we have some offers on at the moment.
Thanks
Well Thanks a bleeding lot……….!!!! TRACK DAY CANX.!
After months of hard work by Blue and Adrenalin – the tyre kickers fuck the day up for everyone else.
From the committed group, the people that decided last minute just to spectate and talk bikes rather than ride them have ruined it for the rest of us that have dreamt about this day since it’s conception.!
Absolutely gutted………………….. and some community this is.!
Blue and Andrew are now left with a hefty £500 loss of deposit. What does this community think about that?
all spider riders you must make sure all pay some subs so that the blo and adrenalin are not out of pocket iwas looking forward ti meeting all riders as i am a new spider owner from ist sep maybe we could all meet at adrenalin one day to find the problems safe riding
Rosie and Keith
My understanding was that Spyder owners would not have the track exclusively due to insufficient Spyder Owners attending – It could still go ahead we would just have to fit in with others attending the circuit on
Saturday 13th
Unless someone corrects me – The track day is still on and those that wish to go on the track wil be able to
I still intend to travel down if only to meet other Spyder Owners and watch those race around the circuit
I am sure a message ref this event being cancelled would have been posted on this Blog – I haven’t seen
one
.Lets hope the information ref the event being cancelled is just someone who got their wires crossed
and many have been given wrong information and have decided not to attend based on that
We need an event like this if we are to grow
Thanks
Eddie Sheppard
Reading Berks
Just been in text contact with Blue – He is in Poole with Spyder Owner Gary and away from his computer
Due to a lack of support the event planned for Sat 13th Aug has been called off
Blue had intended to contact as many of those who had planned to attend to advise them of this decision
He has asked me to post the following :-
I will post an Official de-brief asap – Blue
Having now just spoken to him I know just how gutted and disappointed he is along with Andrew of Adrenalin ATV who worked so hard to arrange the Ist get together
Its unlikely futher events will be planned – I can only suggest we keep in contact and maybe we will have to arrange things on a local level until we see what the future holds
I have alot of time for Blue, Had it not been for him I would never have considered a Spyder and no doubt my
riding days would have been over
Thanks
Eddie Sheppard
how many spyder owners will attend on the 13 it would be interesting to know
Good evening everyone,
My apologises for this late post but as Eddie kindly posted I have been away from a PC so unable to post.
I have been at the Poole bike night (160 mile round trip) meeting a truly lovely couple Gary and Alex who had travelled all the way from Jersey to attend the event. I felt that as they had put so much effort into coming to the UK they deserved to hear the bitter truth face to face.
Sadly the info that has filtered back to the blog from other people we have contacted directly is true..The community meet is cancelled.
This cancellation is due to a lack of support and financial constraints again due to the lack of commitment from atendees.
Unfortunately we received a call from the venue telling us that the expected rider numbers were not booking in as requested/expected, An underlying problem being people were now not buying a ticket to ride although planning to turn up to spectate instead at no cost. The clear knock on effect was lost revenue for the venue and a massive drop in funds which were needed to staff the venue etc for the day. (This is not the venues fault)
The venue had already been very good about helping us with regards to the previous situation where people didn’t make good on their ticket reservations and took on the event themselves running it along side solo riders.
As the venue were unable to fill the solo sessions and there was complete apathy from the Spyder community the very difficult decision was made to pull the plug.
The sad but true fact of the matter is Andrew (Adrenalin ATV) and myself have worked extremely hard to arrange this event which was based out of an expressed desire by riders only to discover when it actually came to it only a select few really put the effort in. To those who did a very big thank you ..you know who you are.
It is also true that this has cost us £500 in a lost deposit from our own pockets and days of relentless effort and work. Thankfully the venue did not charge us the thousands it would have cost in lost revenue for them.
To those of you who have made very kind gestures of help, again thank you, but it’s not your responsibility to sort out and Andrew and myself will shoulder this. We’re not looking for thanks or consolation we did this as enthusiasts for enthusiasts. It just turns out we learnt a sharp lesson in trying to invigorate a pedestrian niche.
Needless to say i’m/we’re very disappointed and sorry that it has come to this but clearly the UK Spyder community isn’t ready for large format organised events and should maybe stick to… as Sean would say …Tyre kicking in Hotel car parks.
Again many apologises to those who really made such an effort to keep this alive however sometimes you just have to accept defeat..and for those looking on from the side lines… you now have your free market research..hope it helps!!
There will be no further post mortem of this.
Ride safely everyone
This is Blue signing off
Hi Blue
So sorry you had to cancel, let me know if I can help.
Regards Jeff
hi blue
i am gutted. whats up with these people.they get the chance to go on a track and ride as they want at half the normal cost.
I want to thank blue for all his time and effert it must be massive disapointment to him and Andrew.
Blue and Andrew should not loose out because others can not be botherd.
I am realy pissed off.
Ih to all the spyderryders that have been let down
I think we should still meet for breakfast and i will traval from lancashier
just to meet you all.
regards Jim
Hi all,
Sorry to hear that all the effort has gone down the pan. Especially for blue and the others who have been trying so hard to get others to commit. However, please remember that there are other enthusiasts who genuinley would have liked to attend (me & probably others) but could not make it due to work commitments. Just a short note to make sure that not all failures to attend are just due to lack of interest or individualistic preferences.
Hope that enthusiasm for the blog keeps up though.
David
